MISSOURI SECTION NEWS
Cecil Higgins MO SM
I want to thank all the volunteers that are continuing to serve
the ARRL Missouri Section in their appointed positions for the
Section. You are a great group and I really appreciate you all.
Don't forget that the Missouri QSO Party, sponsored by the Boeing
Employees Amateur Radio Society, will be April 2nd and 3rd. You
can check out all the information about the MOQP at the BEARS
website by using the link
http://w0ma.org/index.php/missouri-qso-party. Look over the
whole site and use the links about the rules and other
information that will prove quite valuable.
Missouri House Bill 1951 has made it out of committee. Thanks for
all the support to get it out of committee and on to the next
part of the process. Please contact your local Representative and
urge them to vote for the Bill. This Bill is the one that that we
are trying to get enacted in the Missouri Legislature, NOT the
Federal Bill being supported by the ARRL at the National level.
Both of these Bills will make it possible for Amateur Radio
Operators to negotiate to have outside antenna in areas
controlled by Homeowners Associations.
I know you don't need a reminder, but we are getting closer to
sever storm season so it is important that we get our gear ready
and serviced so we are able to respond should the need arise.
I will be at the OARS Hamfest is March 26th the Doors open at
8:00 AM and the Hamfest will be open until 1:00 PM. I look
forward to seeing everyone there.

The Bootheel Amateur Radio Club on March 10th conducted an
Amateur Radio open house in Kennett, MO. The BARC invited the
community to the Ely Walker Building to learn more about Amateur
radio by viewing demonstrations related to Amateur Radio
operations, learning about the Amateur Radio Emergency Services
and a testing sessions was held for those wanting to get a
license or upgrade. Curtis Rouch, WB4NMG, The Boothill Amateur
Radio Club President and Bill Piatt, N0JHW, BARC V-P were the

The Hannibal Amateur Radio Club held their yearly club get
together dinner at the Golden Corral this year. There was an
outstanding number of people, and lots of good food. This meeting
was not a business meeting and those attending were there to
share the fellowship of Amateur Radio. The only business was the
presentation of `Member of the Year Award, to Don Vary, KDOHHN.
Don was presented the award by Ed Turner, NOWNV. Mr. Vary was
very appreciative of the honor and he didn't expect the award.
The HARC has completed its move to their new permanent meeting
location at the Marion County Ambulance Building at 142 Jaycee
Drive in Hannibal, MO.
