Hi all,

I'm getting some giggles here...

Why should I read balanced wire wheels for mag wheels? They're nowhere
near close, in the 30s aluminium was extremely expensive and magnesium
limited to flares so bottom line; mag wheels didn't exist. Going along
with a few other like comments, there are plenty of imitations (plastic?)
but nothing like the real thing. I never said anything that even hints
they're no longer around, only that I haven't seen them since the
motorheads grew up.

"...7 Litre, not exactly a small car, more like something driven by Al Capone."
Fair comparison size wise but that's where it ends. Unless you're think
ing of a 12cyl long nose touring car nothing even today comes close.
Capone owned two Cadillacs neither of which he could drive from his perch
in the back seat. There's an interesting read behind them, as one
disappeared early on and the one extant is of questionable origin there
is much contraversey over which claimant if any actually owns the real
thing.

"YES I PLAN TO DRIVE for the NEXT 50 YEARS!!"
Some people get buried in their cars, you may be one of them. (;->)
Just had to add the winkie, that one is special.

We get Top Gear here too on BBCA not that I watch it as a matter of
course but you're right, Jeremy Clarkson is a horrid driver and that's
what makes it funny. The one episode I actually sat and watched to
conclusion was when he destroyed bit one of those 3 wheeled barrows with
a motor someone misclassified as a car. He couldn't get it through his
head you can't take corners at ANY speed even when fitted with
outriggers. I don't know which was funnier, his remarks, those of other
drivers (outriggers really piss them off) or just watching him bounce
around in a scratched and dented tin can.

Yeah, I know all about discrimination simply because sometime protest in
this country goes from extreme to extremely rediculous. What I said about
senior retesting had NOTHING to do with insurance rates (but they ARE the
lowest bracket) but the usual man down under mixed them up together.
Statistics don't tell the whole story so other than the obvious
inexperienced kids taking unsafe chances one can't pidgeon hole safe
drivers by age. That's because stats don't include incident details on
record or not so you have to dig deeper to find the facts behind them. On
the other side of the coin is denial, that's crashing backward through a
store front and claiming you're as good a driver as you ever were. Now if
only they'd all put the R gear in the same spot senile drivers would only
get lost.

"But as you say, the statistics show younger drivers, have more
fatal accidents."
My point entirely, stats don't tell the whole story.
