The official view from ET is that the system will be fully operational
with effect from March 2009. One wonders where they are going to get the
funds to carry out the Fire-Brigades advice (France et England) on the
enclosement of bogey used by Trucklines? With the inherent safety against
fires built into each carriage with foam and flame retardents as was
recommended some time ago.
At this moment in time they are operating a 90min shuttle in each
direction whereas the service was running every 30 minutes its now every
90 minutes and probably at a much slower speed.
There has to be some element of unlawful price fixing going on between ET
and ferry ops. Having travelled on Shuttle each way for 15yrs several
times a year 35mins in each direction most of us knew which to choose but
choice was removed by the ridiculous pricing of ET.
Who is going to pay 200 if one can get it for 49? Now look at the rates of
SF as if a return at late night is booked one can get booked in for just
30 whereas P&O will go for about 60! Imagine a shuttle loaded with a full
capacity leaving every 30 minutes thats a 1000 cars every 30 minutes
double-deck style you will soon see my point. ET could be raking in the
revenue if they were to make a standard charge day and night of say 35
each way. 35x1000= on each shuttle, true it would disable the ferries, but
at the moment we are all being held to ransom.
Finally why do they need to hold vehicles in a marshalling area? They dont
in England so why Coquelles? Once through the toll one should be allowed
to queue for the next available shuttle.
