An interesting point about accuracy is that according to long term
averaging by my GPS units the North End of Anderson st Lilydale (a street
I traverse regularly) is about 100 meters east from where the data from
the survey maps place it.

The error is quite consistent no matter the time of day or the satellites
in view. The site is open to the sky for the full 360 degrees horizontal
and about 170 in the vertical plane.

I picked this up when I found the car GPS was not tracking the street
surface in it's internal map and because I report map anomalies to the
supplier in the hope of better accuracy on future releases I checked it
out quite closely..

Investigation showed that the road surface does not follow the surveyed
path. I assume that the street directories and other maps all take the
reference data from the survey map and not directly from the aerial
photographs.

Just thought you would like to know... Has anyone else found similar
problems??

                         Regards Tony VK3API
