MARCONI CENTENARY 1906 - 2006
Celebrations to remember the first transmissions across open water in the
Southern Hemisphere by the Marconi Company on 12 July 1906 between
Queenscliff and Devonport is going to be celebrated from 12th to 16th July
2006.
At 1.30pm on 12th July we are re-enacting the exchange of messages between
dignitaries in Queenscliff Victoria and Devonport Tasmania - the exact
time of the 1906 message exchange.
There will be operation on the following frequencis for anyone who is
interested in having a contact with the special event station VK7MC at
Devonport, which will be operating in conjunction with VK3MC the special
event station at Queenscliff.

Special QSL cards are being printed, and there is a 20 page brochure - a
reproduction of the original put out by the Marconi Company with a
subsequent historical insert that will be available for a nominal fee to
anyone who contacts the special event station.
The two Devonport High Schools in a joint activity plan to talk to Jeff
Williams on the Space Station one evening, and this will be broad cast
world wide, on Echolink and IRLP and ARISS echolink
