The Film/light keyer.
Why have holes? Have a small disk (or loop)
of clear plastic, like a record, driven slowly
by a small motor, write on it with a pcb pen in
morse code, detect with photo sensor for "no
light" AND "enable keyer" and you have a keying
signal. Maybe have a synchronising or home position
that it goes to when not selected so you always
start at the beginning.
