Hi.
Those interested enough will have seen the GB2CW Broadcast schedule in the
RSGB Yearbook or on the RSGB web site. Unfortunately we have one volunteer
who has become a Silent Key. Buck Taylor, G0OYH, from Exeter passed away a
while back.
However, on a happier note, we have three new volunteers:
Stan Houlding, G0BYA from Leeds
Andrew Kersey, G0IBN from Essex
Jim France, G3KAF from South Manchester
I would like to welcome all three to the GB2CW Morse Transmission service
and hope they have lots of listeners.
Here in Norfolk, the Norfolk Amateur Radio Club is now offering a beginners
course under the leadership of Chris, G0TZZ, aided by Peter, 2E0RYB. Both
were members of my yearly Morse Course that I run at my QTH. Both are now
capable of 25 wpm and still heading for the 30 wpm target. My course ends in
July and the new one starts in October again. Hopefully the "raw beginners"
will be up to around 8-10 wpm before joining my class.
The GB2CW service still needs more volunteers, so if you or your Club wish
to join the scheme, it really is a worthwhile thing to do and only takes an
hour or so a week, a small price to pay when giving something back to the
hobby! Give it a whirl, it really is easy to do. Write to me, either via
this mode or at g3ldi@yahoo.co.uk and I will get you on the list. CW is far
from dying, it's a growing mode and I would like to see all the youngsters
get involved, as well as some of the older licencees of course.
I look forward to hearing from you.
73 de Roger, G3LDI, RSGB GB2CW Co-ordinator.
May the Morse be with you.
