New SLCEARS Packet system at Fort Pierce, FL.
A new SLCEARS FlexNet-Digi node / F6FBB bbs is now on line at a temporary
site in the southern area of Vero Beach. It soon will be installed at the
Saint Lucie County EOC. This is located in the Treasure Coast area of the
Eastern Central Florida region at Fort Pierce, Saint Lucie County, Florida.

The FlexNet-Digi node is operating on an PC running MSDOS together with a
full service PBBS. The node has five logical channels called Ports. The node
call is W4SLC-2 and the bbs call is W4SLC-4. The bbs hierarchical address is:
W4SLC.#ECFL.FL.USA.NOAM.
User access is provided via port 0, ssid-2 on the 145.53 MHz. 1k2 VHF
channel. Please note that the FlexNet node responds to connect requests to
W4SLC with any ssid in the range of 2 through 4 via any of its ports. If the
ssid is -4 the connect request is passed on to the W4SLC-4 bbs, otherwise
connection to the FlexNet node "info box" takes place.
There are three other ports for linking to other FlexNet neighbor nodes.
Port 1, to W4OT-2 at Vero Beach, Indian River County and to W4MLB-2 at
Melbourne, Brevard County. Port 2 and 3 are available for future links south
and west. These are backbone ports that cannot be connected to by Users, only
by their neighbor nodes. Port 4 is an axip port for connecting via Ethernet to
soon to be added TCP/IP amprnet node W4SLC-5. Port 15 is a virtual port to
the W4SLC-4 bbs.
Comming soon will be a new Linux system slcears.w4slc.ampr.org running
URONode which provides an ax25 link to the W4SLC-2 node/bbs, NetRom via
amprnet and a program called axMail which provides sending and receiving Email
plus sending Fax messages via amprnet/internet.
Two other programs also running on this Linux system, that can be accessed
from or via the node are: W4SLC-6 a DXSpider dx cluster node and W4SLC-12 a
Linux Telpac node providing access to the Winlink WL2K system.
These W4SLC Packet Radio Systems are operating on a portion the Eastnet
FlexNet RF network serving the CFL and ECFL regions including: Orange,
Brevard, Indian River and St Lucie Counties, with amprnet connectivity to
other parts of Florida and world wide.
