I did read the bulls about Win 7 but didn't join in, though I remember
someone saying that Win 7 was much smaller and faster than the XP Pro
which I run. I wondered if it was possible that Win 7 was small because of
Microsoft trying to create a mobile phone, tablet OS.

We get a few tech programmes on our TV and a recent one suggested
something similar, then they went on to say that we are going to get
Windows 8 next year. A friend of mine, a real PC nerd (not Linux) told me
that it is due in the new year. I wonder what that will be like ?

For what it's worth, I tried Vista briefly and was not impressed. As for
speed, I don't find XP Pro slow. It multi tasks and I can watch streamed
TV
though that is often due to the speed of the ISP. My speed is a true 8Meg
and the PC is mainly ASUS with 3.2 GHz CPU and 4 GB RAM and has worked
quite well for 4 years now. The drives, monitor and keyboard are all from
scrappers but are O.K.

A happy New Year to all and I look forward to the discussion on W 8 as
soon as someone tries it.
