My HF APRS Gateway/Igate here in Rotorua is now operating 24/7 on
10.149Mhz netted to VK3MY-4. Dial frequency 10.147.09 USB with my AEA
DSP2232. Port 1 on HF and Port 2 on VHF.
Local VHF freq is 144.575mhz.
Would be interest to hear any reports.
Good signals from VK but I don't hear any ZL signals.
40m not suitable here for various reasons.

Folks,

VK2RAG-1
has now been upgraded, completing the rollout of the New-N firmware to the
Sydney region.

VK2US-1
Well it looks like the gremlins we thought we had evicted from this
digipeater have returned. It has been noted as being deaf when the weather
is wet, and its coverage is severely reduced in the rain. I now suspect
that there may be a pinhole crack in the antenna (it's an X-50) which is
allowing things to get a bit damp. It dries out and returns to normal quite
quickly when the rain actually stops.

VK2ZEN-1
Has been installed at its final location near Maitland. Although there is
not a great deal of mobile activity in the area as yet, initial indications
of its actual coverage area are very promising.

VK2AMW-2
Remains to be upgraded (This is the last digi in VK2 to be upgraded) - this
will occur in the next couple of weeks as it requires a full day-trip to
attend the site. Since the relocation of VK2AMW-1, this digi down at
Batemans Bay has been getting into the network again, which is excellent to
see.

There will be some changes happening to the IGate functionality over the
next month or two. The changes will not affect position reports going into
the Internet, but you may notice changes to what is seen coming out to RF,
and the way it comes out. These trials are the first step in trying to
streamline the IGate functionality across the state.

70cm APRS
The 70cm network has begun to become a reality. VK2INT is operating a 70cm
IGate on the national frequency 439.100 (1200bps). At the moment it is
gating pretty much the same data as seen on 2m, but once we have a couple of
digipeaters on air we can start offering more. Currently we have confirmed
that a 70cm digipeater can be located at VK2US-1 and VK2RSW-1 to cover
Sydney, and potentially VK2AMW-1 to cover the Illawarra.

Regards,
Geoff VK2XJG

Dear all,

I am trying to setup my thd7ag as a fill-in digi using uiview32 without luck.

The d7 works fine when connected to uiview and sends my beacon and receives positions fine when setup as a d7. I read somewhere that digipeating only works when in KISS mode, however I can't seem to get it to work.

Before I spend more time, is what I'm trying to do possible?
Cheers

Hi Ian,

The D7 will not work as a digi due to its very small internal buffer (1 bite
from memory).

If you get it to run in KISS mode as a standard home station you are doing
well.

I will be driving to Wallsend tomorrow, so Zen may pick me up. Was a bit
of a dead zone once you left the F3.

Thanks for your efforts
