The reason behind limited success with AMW-4 (which is now MPJ-1) is it
relies on AMW-1 to get in to the I-Gate. No AMW-1 no MPJ-1.

Hi Phil,

Just wondering what the latest with amw-1 ? It seems to only be working in a
limited way at the moment?

I can't access it from my place anymore and AMW-4 only has limited
success,

Cheers

Well said Jack,

This is a hobby, nothing more, nothing less. If you want it to run perfect
and want it to run perfect now, start paying me and all the other SYSOPs.
That way we won't have to worry about finding time between work, family and
all the other things in our lives.

Mate grab a beer (or other drink of choice) sit back, and enjoy the season.
Stress less and you might actually enjoy life

I had a look at the config file for VK2RBY and it has a path set to
WIDE2-1,WIDE2-2. I set the beacons to this path a over 9 months ago when we
were having problems with the digi and needed to get data out to few IGates.

This problem was fix some time ago however I had forgotten to change the
beacon paths back to the default WIDE2-2. I'll change them back shortly.

VK2RO does not need such a log path to access an IGate these days. I'll have
a chat with him.

Thanks for bringing the unusual paths to my attention.

Merry Christmas!

Cheers

Gday,

Here's what's been happening with VK3 APRS in the past few weeks.

Western VK3.

Yesterday we spent some time at Mt William doing maintenance work on
VK3RPG-2.

We replaced the EPROM with one that contains the 'New Paradigm'. This means
that VK3RPG-2 will no longer support Relay or Wide.

If you have not already done so, you must CHANGE Your Path to
WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 in order to use APRS.

For UI-View your Unproto Address must be set to APRS,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1

For all mobile units set your path to WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1

See http://vk3.aprs.net.au/packet_path_guide.htm for path information for
your area.

While on site we also install a SiteAlert unit which will provide data and
alarm information for the digipeater.

If you are interested in being notified of events and SiteAlert alarms
there is a Yahoo Group you can join.

Subscribe to: SA-Alarms-vk3-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Thanks to Andy VK3AS for his help and company on a very cold wet and windy
hill top yesterday.

VK3III-1 the Horsham fill-in digipeater will soon be upgraded. The upgrade
will include a new EPROM and support only WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1.

Gippsland data issues.

I have noticed of late that there has been a number of corrupted data
packets coming from the Gippsland area of VK3. To help track the source of
the problem VK3RGI-1 has been temporarily turned off. It will be turned back
on after we have collected more data on the issue.

Merry Christmas to you. Have a happy and fun time!

Richard

Subject: [OZAPRS] vk1nfi - vk2mpj Fill-in Digi question
To: "'ozaprs@aprs.net.au'" <ozaprs@aprs.net.au>

Peter,

I have the fill-in digi working at my place now VK2HIM-1, intermittently though due to the power issues at vk2amw-1

Question for those with more knowledge than myself - as there are quite a few digi - hops between myself and the igate, it seems any mobile station
that I fill in for don't make it to the internet using the standard WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2 .. testing shows a mobile needs to be set to WIDE1-1,WIDE2-3 to get to the igate

The path taken for a station I fill-in digi for is:

2007-12-23 19:37:17 EST: VK2HIM-7 <http://aprs.fi/?c=raw&limit=&call=VK2HIM-7> >S4T6Q2,VK2HIM-1 <http://aprs.fi/?c=raw&limit=&call=VK2HIM-1> ,VK2MPJ-1 <http://aprs.fi/?c=raw&limit=&call=VK2MPJ-1> ,VK2AMW-1 <http://aprs.fi/?c=raw&limit=&call=VK2AMW-1> ,VK2RAG-1 <http://aprs.fi/?c=raw&limit=&call=VK2RAG-1> ,WIDE2*,qAR,VK2XJG-2:'NLwl >/]

Of course I assume if AMW-1 heard me direct then the WIDE2-2 should get through.

So the question is, should I be gating to the internet to avoid the need for the non-standard WIDE2-3 ? Or is there something else I should be doing?

I have UIVIEW32 digipeater setup as an alias VK2HIM-1,WIDE1-1 only without the WIDEn-n TRACEn-n options ticked ..

Any help would be appreciated ..

Cheers
Ian vk2him

We need some australian stations to pick up ANDE-1 on 145.825 MHz as it
slowly re-enters earth's atmosphere.

ANDE-1 is 1200 baud packet.

The reason that you can get up side down plug packs is so that they can
be plugged into outlets that are close to the floor i.e. offices that
have GPO on the skirting board or desks where the GPO is just above the
desk. No great conspiracy !
