A correct observation that the CPU clock speed is not the only variable
that affects the performance of a computer.

This changes the number of simultaneous connections Internet Explorer will
make to another webserver. It will only improve the performance of IE, or
programs that use IE to fetch http data. People using proper browsers will
have a setting in their browsers setup which does the same.

The default in Firefox is 16! If you change it you may well see faster
browsing. There again, a webserver that is busy will be limiting the number
of connections it allows in. If it sticks a limit on you it wont matter
what you set your local limit to. There are many other reasons why this
change may not make any obvious change to do with network load and overall
webserver performance.

Other browsers give control not only on the the number of connections per
server, but the maximum number of connections (for those of us who have
many webpages open) and the number of persistent connections. My advice....
leave the defaults as they are, they'll be more correct than the result of
someone who doesn't fully understand what they are doing poking about!

I would say it is everything to do with ISP connections or LANs as you are
trying to increase the amount of data you fetch at any one time.

You have an interesting definition of insult Ian. Basically anyone who
challenges the factual accuracy of what you say is "insulting" you. In the
past people used to make corrections to the more outrageous claims you've
made asking for you to provide sources for the statements you've made.
You've had arguments of these disputes and then rather than admitting you
were mistaken you've blocked these people. It's not for nothing you are
known as The Ministry Of Misinformation by a huge number on packet.

If you are not going to accept that you have made factual errors and the
list is exhaustive (Paavo Numi, Booster seats in cars, living in EU
countries, Red Cross, John Stonehouse, Double Indemnity, Fatman/Little boy
to name a few) and then when challenged stick your fingers in your ears and
say "nah nah nah I cant hear you" then it's not surprising people will
treat you with some contempt.

I'm sure you will lose more from giving up packet than we will. But the
loss of your bulls will be sad all the same. In between the unrelenting
mysognism and frequent latent racism that permeates most of your writing
you've given many a huge belly laugh at the outrageous and unsupported
claims you've made. Cutting through all of that jazz, there is nearly
always some pithy and accurate obseravtion which does stop and make people
think.

However, it's all moot as you are sat there now with your fingers in your
ears blocking out people such as me who dare to point out the errors you've
made. Unless someone points this out to you that is.
