starting at 6-30pm on Saturday 23rd November 2019 at the Frenchville Sports Club,

Clifton Street North Rockhampton.

You are invited to attend this premier event on the Amateur Radio calendar, the

annual dinnerannual dinner with Amateur Radio enthusiasts, family and friends. Enjoy social banter

- Central Highlands ARC Theresa Creek Campout

The Theresa Creek Campout will be happening from Friday 29th until Sunday 31st May 2020

Theresa Creek Dam is located 22 km southwest of Clermont in Central Queensland,

with bitumen access all the way to the boat ramp plus 2 boat ramps to choose from.

This is the perfect dam for those that like swimming, canoeing, water skiing, fishing,

or just relaxing and watching  tior just relaxing and watching  time pass you by.

Theresa Creek Dam is well worth a visit, with a couple of toilet blocks,

HOT showers, shaded picnic tables, bins, BBQ's, 6 x 6 camping shelters and

plenty of spots to access the dam for land based anglers and red claw hunters.

Red claw crayfish are the main target species in the dam however;

you can also chase Barramundi, Golden Perch,  Eel-Tailed Catfish, Sleepy Cod,

Silver Perch and Bony Bream. Permits for fishing are required through DPI.

Sorry no EFTPOS as phone coverage is not real great. Pets welcome with strict rules.

NO powered sites as the site is a camping ground and - remember - the site is a

glass free area.

Campfires are permitted. Camping fees are $15 per couple/per night kids free

and there are no bookings,

first come first camped. Generators are permitted within specified hours.

The CHARC crew usually camp as you first drive in on the right opposite the

first set of toilet and shower blocks.

Happy Hour at 4pm!

- Central Highlands ARC AGM Weekend

The famous and popular Central Highlands Amateur Radio Club AGM weekend

will be happening at Lake Maraboon Holiday Village, approx 25km southwest of Emerald,

from 2pm Friday 25th to 10am Sunday 27th September 2020.

Some hams and support crews will be staying a bit earlier or later at the fabulous

lakeside venue renown for a great climate, friendly management and buckets o

redclaw for the catching. The venue is just down the road from the impressive

Fairbairn Dam and the local model aircraft flight centre.

There will be great chances to catch up with hams and support crews from all over

the country who attend to get involved the only fundraising activity CHARC has to

finance the licencing, maintenance and expansion of the Central Highlands

Linked Repeater System, analogue, digital and APRS.

Experience the raffles, the famous Money Board, gastronomic feed ups (with dessert)

and the Mega-Auction hand the Mega-Auction held in the huge camp kitchen shelter.

Make sure you bring treasure to the Auction and if possible also include a

mysteriously wrapped item for the Mystery part of the auction.

- Clairview Gathering

The Clairview Gathering is a yearly event where Radio Amateurs meet

at a spot on the coast between Rockhampton and Mackay to relax, talk

radio, re-establish acquaintances and participate in the world renown

Saturday Night Mega-Auction. There might even be some fox-hunting and

there withere will definitely be RAFFLES !

The Gathering is one of the main revenue raisers for the

Rockhampton and District Amateur Radio Club Inc and

Mackay Amateur Radio Association.

 

It happens in 2020 from

Friday arvo 1st May to Monday morn 4th May.

Those who are keen to chill out completely in one of the most relaxing

and laid back venues in the cosmos arrive earlier and stay later.

Whitsunday Region Endurance Riders Association Inc Euri Gold Farm Endurance Rides.

All the rides happen on the verdant slopes of Euri Gold Farm, just out of Merinda

north of Bowen North Queensland.

You are able to camp out early at Ride Base or the checkpoint from Thursday afternoon onwards.

The ride starts up on Friday morning and will run right through Sunday afternoon.

YYour chance to get out into some lovely countryside, set up camp with a portable station

or three and communicate in a relaxing fashion as the horsies and riders go by, day and night.

Hey Mackay and Bowen horsie operators - you can join in the fun too !

Canteen, hot water, bbq din din plus brekkie and mod cons available at Ride Base.

All operators invited to attend the State Championships Presentation and Roast Banquet on Sunday Night.

NQORA Offroad Racing Events - Milchester Motorsport and Recreation Facility Charters Towers

The North Queensland Offroad Racing Association Inc. runs a series of offroad racing

events at the Milchester Motorsport Facility Charters Towers and at Our Retreat Station

near Nebo Central Queensland. They need Autosport and Radio savvy people to run observation

checkpoints for thecheckpoints for the Charters Towers events.

Operate at Checkpoints throughout the day with a ringside seat to see up close

the offroad racing action whilst doing useful things with radios.

Camping overnight Friday and Saturday Night is available, or if you prefer your creature

comforts motels and pubs are available to stay in less than 10 minutes away from the venue.

TCAC Go For Gold Rallysprint - Milchester Motorsport and Recreation Facility Charters Towers

Play with radios out in the field to the sound revving engines and tortured suspension.

Operate at Start, Flying Finish and Stop positions using your equipment and skills to

help make this peak autosports event one to remember for years to come.

Glamp rough at the Motorsport Facility or Glamp soft at the well found motel facilities in town.

Set up Saturday morning, competition starts on the two short stages on Saturday afternoon and

will continuwill continue into the early evening. Competition resumes Sunday morning on the long stage and finishes

at lunchtime.

 

TCAC King Of The Hill Hillclimb on the Mount Stuart Road.

A chance to get out in the field and mix your radio with high speed organized autosports.

Operators needed to man the Start and Flying Finish positions on the Mount Stuart Road.

Safety and Time Control communications and your chance to get a CAMS Officials Licence.

7-30am start, free food at brekkie and lunchtime, finish by 3-30pm. Make sure you bring a comfy chair !

Your chance to make a real difference and show the youth of today how useful

Amateur Radio can be. Teams tracking and a chance to set up portable at a spot

you wouldyou would not normally go to. Arrive at Nighthawk HQ around 2pm on Saturday,

then go to your checkpoint for a night of easy operating in the field tracking the progress

of Nighthawk teams, with some in-flight entertainment as you observe youth members try to impress

the Scout Leader judges with finesse in their activity.

Magnetic Island to Townsville Swim.

A great day out on the water playing with radios to the sound of Migaloo

It is also highly recommended that operators attend the Swim Briefing

to meet the competitors, organisers and skippers.

- Cyclone Sunday 2019

Disaster Ready Day (previously known as Cyclone Sunday)

is back in 2019 to help Townsville residents prepare for natural disasters.

It all happens at Jezzine Barracks, North Ward on Sunday

November 3rd from 9am November 3rd from 9am to Midday. and is put on by the Townsville City Council

in co-operation with lead counter-disaster organisations and safety

oriented businesses.

 

This free event will focus on educating the community on how to best

keep themselves and their homes safe in the case of a disaster

and provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to hear

from disaster management experts.

 

The community can find information on storm tide evacuation zones,

learn about flood mapping, get important documents scanned,

watch demonstrations from experts and much more!

 

Learn how to prepare for natural disaster at this free community event!

Cyclone Season is from 1 November - 30 April.

 

View demonstrations on sandbagging and  emergency repairs to windows,

get to know your storm tide zone and find out what to do in a disaster situation.

Visit over 30 exhibitors and pick up a few giveaways along the way.
