8 Years ago, after a long struggle I finally got a bus pass - very useful.
2 years ago, the local busses all installed readers for the RFID chip in
the card and now we just lay the card on the reader.
In my case it prints a ticket saying "Disabled" and a multi digit number.
I wonder what the number links to and what else is on record.
BTW there is no magstripe, smart chip (like a credit card) or any other
indication that it is more than a simple card. No one told me that it was
machine readable when I got it.
I can't see any reason why our government would want to follow disabled
and old people around. When I first found out, it made me wonder about
other, innocuous cards such as my driving licence. Obviously they can
check our movements via our credit cards which is why, when I bought
tobacco in other European countries I always paid cash.
A lot of people I know try to pay cash. They don't give away any details
such as surnames, addresses, 'phone numbers, unless, like me, they have a
PAYG unregistered mobile.
Just a way of life in a Police State.
