We have no written constitution like the USA and never have had, Never
mind the Magna Carta and all that rubbish for the upper classes.

The nearest we have ever come to a bill of rights is the 1998 Human Rights
Act. G4EBT, a long time magistrate, sent me a copy in 2000 when it became
law.

I looked it up on the 'net the other day and noticed that our government
has added specific exeptions to, especially, Article 10 which gives us the
Freedom of Speech and the freedom of expression.

Every 'Freedom' comes with responsibilities like, we can say what we like
so long as it doesn't offend others. That now means that there is a whole
lot of words which we cannot say because they might upset ethnic
'monorities'. There is a bit about 'national security' whatever that may
mean, and a mention of 'morals' which covers a whole multitude of
subjects,

In short, we have the right to say what we think so long as we don't
offend anybody. The trouble is,anything we say in the least controversial
is bound to offend somebody, so we can't say it. We are back to where we
were before.

Long live the status quo.
