extensive search of the area failed to locate the subject and SAR members

and 12 children that had become ill while camping in Strathcona Park near
Courtenay. Six subjects were transported to hospital by helicopter and the
remainder of the campers were escorted out by the SAR team.

2 members Kelowna Fire Dept responded to a report of a kite surfer that
had been down in the lake for quite some time. Fire crews responded out
and found that he had been down in the water for a while. The wind had
died down and he was trying to kick his way back to shore. Did not require
assistance, therefore, they left him where he was and their 2 members
returned.
