COMMENTS

On 04 and 05 Mar, 1 Quesnel SAR member accompanied the RCMP and their dog 
handler to check a potential sighting of the individual missing in the 
area. The search was  stood down, pending further RCMP investigation.

2 PEP Air members responded to search for an ELT sounding near the Masset 
airport. The ELT was located on a boat at the dock and was shut off.

COMMENTS

121 volunteers from PEP Air, Campbell River SAR, Comox Valley SAR and 
Arrowsmith SAR assisted RCC in the search for a missing float plane in the 
Port McNeill area. One of the plane's occupants was located deceased on 02 
Mar. No sign was found of the plane or the remaining four occupants. RCC 
stood the search down on 04 Mar and turned the matter over to the RCMP.

COMMENTS

12 SAR members from Hope, Chilliwack, and Kent Harrison responded to 
search for a 61 year old male that went missing in the Kawkawa Lake area. 
The individual was found, uninjured, shortly after being reported missing 
and the SAR teams were stood down.

3 Kitimat SAR members responded to search for two drift boaters who were 
missing on the Kitimat River, 10-15 km out of town. SAR members located 
both boaters unharmed.

for an elderly male missing in the Lac Le Jeune park area. The individual 
was found in good condition.

local police.

sounding near or at the Victoria International Airport. The ELT was found 
and shut off by airport fire crews.

19 SAR members from Hope, Kent Harrison, Chilliwack and Central Fraser 
Valley responded to search for a mountain biker missing in the area of 
Peters Road in Laidlaw. The subject walked out to base camp the next 
morning in good condition after spending the previous night camping on the 
river.

12 Campbell River and 3 Arrowsmith SAR members conducted a search for a 
Salal picker missing between Campbell River and Gold River. The subject 
was located in good condition. He had become separated from his partner 
and was unfamiliar with the area.

RCMP requested SAR assistance to search for a missing elderly female 
suffering dementia who reportedly walked away from her home in the Lake 
Country Trailer Park.  SAR members were stood down prior to deploying when 
RCMP advised the individual had been found.

PEP Air responded to locate an ELT that was sounding in the Abbotsford 
area near the US/Canada border. PEP Air was stood down when RCC determined 
that the ELT was in fact sounding on the US side of the border.

COMMENTS

3 North Shore Rescue members responded to investigate a vehicle found 
abandoned in the Mount Seymour parking lot. It was later found that the 
three occupants of the vehicle had returned safely to the U.S. The 
vehicle, which had been damaged in a motor vehicle accident, had been left 
in the parking lot for relatives to retrieve.

COMMENTS

3 Whistler SAR members were called out to rescue a male who had fallen 
into the water while ice surfing at Green Lake. He was 60 metres from 
shore and could not be reached by boat due to the amount of ice around the 
shoreline. Rescue members responded by helicopter and managed to pull him 
inside the helicopter while hovering over the lake. He was then 
transported to the medical clinic where he was treated for hypothermia.

COMMENTS

35 Golden SAR members conducted a search for a skier who became separated 
from his group on the back side of Ozone Ridge in the Dog Tooth Range. A 
helicopter was used to transport SAR members into the area. The individual 
was located deceased on 06 Mar and was packaged and transported to the 
heli-base by SAR members..

COMMENTS

4 Kelowna Fire Dept members responded to investigate a report of boat with 
two people on board possibly in distress near the log booms on Okanagan 
Lake. Upon arrival, rescuers determined that the individuals did not 
require assistance.

COMMENTS

18 Coquitlam SAR members responded to rescue an injured hiker on a trail 
in the Buntzen Lake area. The hiker had sustained an ankle injury and was 
carried out of the area by SAR volunteers. Friends then transported the 
subject to a medical clinic for treatment.

COMMENTS

9 Kent Harrison SAR members responded to assist BCAS with transport of an 
Alzheimer's patient requiring medical assistance from the Kilby Boat 
Launch in Harrison Mills. The patient was successfully turned over to 
BCAS.
