That one sounds suspiciously like a scam Dave. I used to get telemarketing
calls, some of them from genuine groups such as Guide Dogs for the Blind.
However it became too much of a good thing, and now I tell them "send me
the details and I will look at them before deciding." My income is limited
and I cannot handle all these appeals. However some were the
"Congratulations! You have just won a (insert cellphone, holiday in the
Carribean, or whatever)". Others were offers of telephone contracts
usually in a very foreign voice. These I choked off pretty smartly.
Finally I registered with the NOCALL list and since then I receive very
few spam calls.
As far as the internet is concerned I was receiving up to 40 spams a day
until I paid the $10 fee for my ISP's antspam program. Now I get almost
none. Most of the spam previously received was for offers to enhance my
vital statistics, offers from prostitutes, ads for viagra and other meds,
etc., etc.Only the occasional one sneaks through the antispam filter of my
ISP.

However this morning I received a call from a well oiled male voice,
asking details about myself and can I use your first name etc. I asked
where he was ringing from and it was Canada.
Ok I said how much is a ticket? but then he went on to say it was a
contract at so much a month in a syndicate of so many people etc.
So I very quickly told him NOT INTERESTED and hung up.>
