Hello Bob, Warren and all ... What a touchy topic.

With guilt, we tend to hide it, forget it, and hope it goes
away, and then via deeper looks into history we learn just
what happened in our wee corner of the world.

The peoples here, where I lived, were first discovered if you
can call it discovered by the early French explorers, and
depending on whom they brought with them, either impacted
on these people we found, or we left them alone and melted
into the melting pot as a community.

Pipe dream. The politics of Europe did in the end impact on
these people. When we tried to enslave them, we foundout
that they were useless as slaves, thus the import of slaves.

In North America, before europeans came, the populations here
were 300 million. There were Empires and North America
was already settled. We introduced new things seeds and
the earthworm and the country all started to change, as well
our phoney promises to the area natives, as successive wars
drove them from their lands, and well ending up in "reservations"
and depending on the graces of the government of the european
decendents, that neatly forgot their treaty obligations.

NO Bob...Warren has not forgotten. You should know that...

If the Koori are anything like the agricultural peoples first
met, they had no concept of war, or cheating, or many things
like "paper to sign to make an agreement" They give their word!

Call them simple people...Ok...perhaps but nobody ever looked
to their culture...other then it ws inferior...so squash it
take their children...educate them like europeans and squash'em
into society...ours!

Gee there were enough peoples like the Koori here, that are no
more.

Now I too read what you copied here as coming from Warren...
SO okay ...

Yeah ... perhaps the Koori were stupid, not to have forseen
what was happening to them. If it has taken this long to
see all this that happened to them, then it is really stupid.

The bottomline is that finally after all this time of being
simple stupid people, and before becoming extinct, the Koori
have evolved a fellow to finally stop the process, and say
NO. Or if someone not a Koori saw them as simple folk
and in need of help..then good for them.

They have tribes in South America, that are still deep in
the interior of the areas they occupy. In some cases some
of them were like the Koori in so many ways, and it requires
a government permit to even visit or have contact with them.

A real danger, as these people have it handed down to them
the evil activitys of the so called explorers.

Peter
