Subject: spectrum interference
Tony,
Re Spectrum 9/8/04. Very good broadcast and content.
As usual I listen on R3, R8 and 80metres.
When I heard the interference on R3 I switched to 146.150 and the signal
was full scale. So I took the antenna off and used a short piece of
hookup wire and the signal was still half scale. It jumped to a higher
level and then generally wandered in level as if handheld...I could hear
no mobile noises.
The tone keypad was used to play a musical tune several times and later
the mic. was repeatedly scratched.
Then the interfering signal stopped and only later in the broadcast did
it return at a very low level with just a carrier.
I don't think it would be right in town here as I would receive any low
power signal at full strength but it is not too far from my QTH. If I can
find a small 2m. beam I will try and get a bearing next time......
