Hello Dave and all,
AM stereo is alive and well in the US. Naturally the Kahn ISB system was
abandoned for the more powerful (read RICH) Motorola lobbied system.
Usual BS, money talks...
FYI, the Kahn system is also alive and well here on 160M, US Hams love to
experiment. (;->) It makes an excellent QRM dodger because you can
emphasizs one sideband over the other like they do on commercial
broadcast to protect adjacent channel stations.
We also use In Band On Channel (IBOC) simulcasting analog and digital
during the transition period to digital.
So, when are HAMS going to discover digital voice? OK, let's open that
old can of worms again, so I'll begin by saying that some in California
are experimenting (???) with it. Oh dear me, when are we going to adopt
commercial standards? WE used to be the inovators, now we're not only the
FOLLOWERS, we have been left in the dust!
