Hi Roger,
This actually should have been posted to WORDS, ah, but what the heck.
(;->)
YUP! Just having a poke at the critics. That "it kept I hopping" is the
common form in Jamaica. Gee, wonder where THEY leatnt if from? (Notice
the "southernism in there? (;->) Oh crap! There go my spastic fingers
again, make that "learnt".
Many would be surprised at what is actually correct form in the English
language, especially I and be. I be, it be we be etc. are perfectly
correct although a teacher would likely crack your knuckles with his
ruler unless you said I am, it is, we are and so on.
Oh, I see you noticed one of my pet peeves too, that misuse of the
apostrophe. I had a girlfriend once who did that and it drove me nuts.
That "Caution, lorry's turning." indicates a posessive, as if the lorry
owns the turning. Since when can a lorry own something and when did that
verb turn into a noun?
Heh, the so called "correct Brits" deserve such a spanking for
criticising the Yanks when they can't speak English either! (;->)
Thanks for seeing my point and having a sense of humor. I'm SO tired of
the flame bulls...
Hmmmm, maybe I should have enabled the echo so you could read this in
STEREO STEREO...........SSTTEERREEOO.
