after a L O T  of messing about it wd appear that both the radio baud rate and
the tnc to computer baud rate are both independently pre settable ( jumpers on
front right of board)
 also that this early version is only 7 bit capable! not 8 bit.
 and that the 9  pin serial cable is  NOT  ''null modem'' type but uses pin 1
to pin 1 , pin 2 to pin 2 , pin 3 to pin 3 , pin 4 to pin 4 etc....>
this actually ''had me going'' for absolutely ages.
as i cd not make out why it shd work on one computer and not the other .,
seemingly identical one!
