The deepest hole ever drilled by man is the Kola Superdeep Borehole, in Russia.  It reached a depth of 40,226 feet or 7.62
miles.  It was drilled for scientific research and gave up some unexpected discoveries, one of which was a huge deposit
of hydrogen-so massive that the mud coming from the hole was boiling with it.

In 1808, a gentlemen's duel took place at 2,000 ft, in a pair of hot air balloons.  Each man used a blunderbus to attempt
to destroy the others balloon.

Not only are there rogue planets floating through space completely alone, not orbiting any stars, but it's possible that
these pitch black lonely planets may support life.

Plants communicate with each other, actively compete against one another for resources, and are capable of learning from
their experiences.

The Apollo 11 astronauts couldn't get life insurance prior to their launch, so they gave themselves their own "life

When Martin Luther King Jr. won the Nobel Peace Prize, Atlanta threw him a celebration party that almost had to be 
cancelled due to opposition.  Coca-Cola's CEO threatened to take the company out of Atlanta out of embarrassment that the
cities people wouldn't honor their Nobel Prize winner.
