Hello all.

I don't read all of the extensive bulletins from the 'magistrate' who seems
duty bound to hand down judgments, and include a lecture to the wayward,
but I saw a recent relevant comment that made me curious.

I saw this...

"Well well, it looks like more US bashing has started again. Not to start
an argument David says hiding behind the wall of a sysop who blocks my
callsign. OK, no argument, but here's a few points to ponder?"

Yes, he does use words to advantage.

And this...

"Motive: WHY did David choose to publish "factoids" on my country and not
HIS? It seems to me the UK is involved in Iraq, the US didn't go it
alone. Then too they have their own weapons stockpile rivalling any
other. Why not talk about what's in his own back yard?"

Then I looked back in the bulletin list, and found in a reference to "OZ"...

"September 10 1996: Enter centre stage, Pauline Hanson, fish & chip shop
owner and one time independent member of Australia's federal parliament,
who rose to fame and infamy after her maiden speech which touched a raw
nerve concerning aboriginal issues and Asian migration."

Now, this may ring a bell with those who hunger for snippets of slander from
the tabloid press in the 'UK', and especially those who trawl the 'Net for
a good 'snoop', but like all good stories, who cares about facts. OK, I know,
we have been told that some of the sources are "government departments" and
"Prime Ministers". (including, one, quoted as a source, who was the most
insolent and devisive ever to wear the mantle: I believe he even manhandled a
'Queen of the Realm')

As if quoting from the news of the world is a worthy pastime, to make a
point of broadcasting the recovered rubbish is not what I want to see on
Amateur Radio packet. When a foreigner tells me about Australian conditions,
I suspect that a Peeping Tom has been looking through the curtains and then
telling the world about the worn carpets and the old fashioned furniture.

And then comes the disclaimer...

"I don't endorse it and I'm not posting any of it one here.
Anyone who's interested can find it at:..."

Comment for the record...

The much maligned, victimised and denigrated Pauline Hanson, was a duly
elected member of our Australian Parliament, who upset certain parties,
including journalists, and as a consequence suffered the most ill conceived,
malicious treatment that made a mockery of Australian politics. She dared to
speak, in the Senate as was her right, and outline her thoughts about the
future of her country, which caused certain minorities to start a campaign of
attack and harassment that was whipped up by 'international socialists'
(notice, I am not using capitals in some of this) and then promoted by the
'media'. When the 'mighty media' is in control (always) no governent would
dare interfere, and a gutsy Australian lady politition was crucified.

Since those 'black days' most of the Hanson Senate statements have been
adopted or adapted by one side or the other of Australian party-politics,
and millions of Australian voters have been vindicated.

I use this example to show the danger of an outsider who talks about his
interpretation of reference material as if it was the 'truth'.

Not so, and a travesty, 'your worship'!

And the 'fly swatter' to kill the last of the impertinent parochial bugs...

"Sadly, I think you're right. Past experience has shown that it's hopeless
to discuss much about Australia on packet without inviting ill-informed
rude comments by certain individuals who seem not to understand that
Australia's history is part of our history. Hence, the text below is
offered for info only - not for comment or debate:"

There we go again!

Oh, for a true and honourable friend who would my country defend. I don't
know who said that, or even if if has been said previously. But anyone who
tells us of the faults of the world, and even, as previously, how rotten is
the social and political scene in his own country, is not a friend of anyone.

73. Dick. VK3ABK.

Ps. Out of curiosity I have just read the latest from 'his honour', and
there can't be many of us who would deploy his country's forces before a
world audience, and then shoot from behind his cover of 'convenient concience'.
