To put it simply WAP exists to allow cutdown versions of webpages to be
accessed on mobile phones with limited memory and performance. There's a
WAP language called WML which is "sort of" related to HTML which proper
webpage are written in. However, since WAP was devised, bandwidth to phones
has increased and phones have got faster and have more memory which means
that full feature browsers are now available rendering a lot of WAP
obsolete.
