Yes, it's also in Windows 2000. 
Go to "Start", "Settings", "Taskbar & Start Menu".
Look for a check box labelled "Show Small Icons in Start Menu". if this is
checked, you have small icons shown in the start menu. If it is unchecked,
you get large icons, and the Windows Version shown up the left edge.
