Version 1.00 - 31MAR96
The Carbon Server will generate multiple copies of a
message
addressed TO a distribution group defined in a configuration
file. In order
that the server knows it has a message to process, the @
field used when
the message is entered must be CARBON. eg RAYNET @ CARBON.
To install:
-----------
Copy CARBON.EXE to WINPACK\SERVERS\SEND
CARBON.CFG to WINPACK\SERVERS\SEND
Setting Up:
-----------
Edit the supplied CARBON.CFG file to contain the
distribution groups you
require. There is no limit to how many groups you have. The
name of the
distribution group must be prefixed with '+', be in UPPER
CASE, and be the
only text on the line.
On sucessive lines are the callsign and bbs of the stations
to which
you require the message to be copied. Note the single space
between the
callsign and bbs. Again, each entry must be in upper case,
and only one
pair (callsign & bbs) per line.
The end of the distribution group is denoted by 'END', again
in UPPER CASE
and the only entry on the line.
Comments can be entered in the file preceded with ';' at the
beginning of
the line, but only at the beginning of the file, or between
distribution
groups as shown below.

In Use:
-------
Enter your outgoing message in the usual way. The TO field
must
contain one of the distribution group entries previously set
up in the
CARBON.CFG file. The @bbs field must contain CARBON.
Anything other
than these entries will cause the server to fail and return
control to
Winpack.
At the next forwarding time, the server will pick up the
message
previously entered and copy it to all the callsigns listed
under the
distribution group selected. Due to the way Winpack works,
during the
current forwarding time, the message to the first callsign
in the list
is sent to the bbs. The remaining messages will be sent on
the next
forwarding time.
A message, containing a copy of the carbon message, is sent
to the
sysop containing the list of callsigns to which the message
has been
copied.

Coding revised to allow Carbon Server to run in a Winpack
directory
that is a sub-directory (eg \HAM\WINPACK).
The sysop message now displays the callsigns to which the
message has
been sent, 10 to a line rather than one long line
previously.
