I spotted 'an ominous American' straight away - nice one !

Actually, some American words are a lot more correct than English ones,
especially parts of cars, but I won't go into that.

I have already mentioned how 'paederasty' was a word used in a joking song
from the musical Hair. O.K. you spell it 'pederasty', literally 'an erotic
obsession with feet' but the more modern invention of 'paedophilia' which is
used to refer to anyone with an extremme, unhealthy interest in 'children' now
defined as anyone under 18.
This, and a few other words like renaming Boadicea, only a nickname in the
first place, to the point where they changed the name on a statue to
'Boudicaa'
 Makes me annoyed.

I suspect it is all down to the man hating feminists who compile the Oxford
English Dictionary.

NB. I would love to be able to find a Bowler hat but I had years of trouble
finding a Deerstalker, then putting up with cries of "Sherlock"

The Bowler was designed to be solid and strong, and a defence against footpads
with clubs, mainly intended for men who had to carry money, such as rent
collectors, so it said you dealt with money, back in the days before credit
cards. A way of bragging, I suppose,
