Hi David and all,
If I'm not mistaken that "when you're smiling the whole world smiles with
you" quote came from the lyrics of a popular song of early 20th century
vintage. Too bad I don't remember much of it, getting senile I suppose,
but in any case I remember Joe Franklin used to sing it occasionally on
his popular NY radio show.
That "nothing in life is fair" quote is oft attributed to Bill Gates
speaking at a colledge symposium in answer to an audience question.
Never mind "The Babs", sometimes her nose gets in the way of her
speaking, probably causing a blockage between brain and mouth. Nonsense
and a demanding personality are the hallmarks of "the consumate Jewish
princess" in her own admission. (She sings beautifully but I wouldn't
want to marry her, hi.)
Your last paragraph brings to mind the true meaning of the phrase "a
winning smile". Before the argument or laughter as the case may be,
putting on a goofy smile is the winning move. The opposition assumes
they're talking to the village idiot and gives up. That brings another
phrase to mind, "he who laughs last laughs best".
