Hi Doug.

The "F> D4"-thing is described in the docs appendix 9
(http://www.f6fbb.org/fbbdoc/docappen.htm)
describing the FBB forward protocol. D4 is the hexadecimal checksum of the
forward proposal.

---quote---
Proposals looks like :

 FB P F6FBB FC1GHV FC1MVP 24657_F6FBB 1345
 F> HH

FB : Identifies the type of the command (proposal)
 P : Type of message (P = Private, B = Bulletin).
 F6FBB : Sender (from field).
 FC1GHV : BBS of recipient (@field).
 FC1MVP : Recipient (to field).
 24657_F6FBB : BID or MID.
1345 : Size of message in bytes.
 F> : End of proposal.
HH is optional. It is the checksum of the whole proposal in hexadecimal.
---unquote---

The recieving BBS should answer "FS ++++" to tell the sending BBS that we
want all 4 messages that are proposed.
The forward protocol is fully explained, with examples, in the docs appendix
9.

More information is needed to figure out why the disconnect is done.

When you are monitoring the traffic with "listen", make sure that the switch
"-a" is used.
Without this command line switch you are not monitoring any outgoing
packets.

Hi Bo. Well I have to apologize for that one. I did go back and read the
documentation and discovered the checksum procedure. I think I was a little
frustrated. Every thing I have touched lately seems to of turned to stone.
(Even today at work.(Volunteer work))

My bbs packed it up and I kinda thought I had abused it too much and nothing
seemed to help it. So I decided to load a PIV with ubuntu and put up a
temp to keep traffic moving. Normally a very simple thing. Well it didn't
work. It will not accept forwarding. I fixed the RH8 bbs last nite. Now I
have to figure out why the ubuntu system is not accepting forwarding. All
that help I got from you last week has worked out well. I did a lot of
reading and have a better feel for the ports stuff.

Thanks very much. I did my first fbb system about 15 years ago. I was
using MSYS at the time and after getting the fbb going, I decided it
was too much trouble and stayed with the msys.

Thanks and 73

Doug VE5DA
