DECEMBER 2012 MISSOURI SECTION NEWS
DALE BAGLEY, K0KY MO SM
Best wishes for a great Christmas and Holiday season to all the
ARRL members in the Missouri Section and to their families. I'm
sure we are all looking forward to celebrating the coming New
Year of 2013 and all of the promise that it holds. I get excited
when I think about all of the Amateur Radio activities and
operations that lies ahead for all of us. We can share our
enthusiasm for Amateur Radio with our friends, family and
acquaintances by encouraging them to become a member the Amateur
Radio Service. If your Radio Club doesn't have both an active
Amateur Radio training program and Volunteer Exam team, then 2013
might be a good time to make that happen.
I would like to thank all those that sent news items to for the
Section News and I encourage individual Hams and MO Section Radio
Clubs to send news items, newsletters to either Dale Bagley, K0KY
at k0ky@arrl.org or to Section Affiliated Club Coordinator Keith
Haye, WE0G, we0g@arrl.net . The news we receive will insure that
all of the good works of an Amateur Radio Club can be publicized
and that other Radio Clubs can be inspired to take on some new
Amateur Radio projects.

AFFILIATED CLUB NEWS KEITH HAYE, WE0G, ACC
Please send club news to we0g@arrl.net or k0ky@arrl.org Thanks!
St. Louis Suburban Radio Club will be holding its annual Holiday
dinner on December 14th at the Olivette Community Center. As
part of their celebration of the Holidays the SLSRC will collect
food items that will then be donated to the Community Helping
Ministries, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to
low-income families: financial assistance, food pantry, and
donates food boxes to needy families during the Holidays.
The Nixa Amateur Radio Club "Open Mic" was, as usual, full of
interesting articles. One of the articles that caught my eye was
written by Fred Smith, N0AZZ. Fred was interested in upgrading
his shack's coax and was looking over the types of Coax to see
which would be the best for the a good price. He looked at
RG-213, 400MAX, and LMR-400 and passed on to the membership of
NARC the results of his research. It is articles like these and
the programs at the Radio Club meetings that help new and
experienced Hams keep up with the change that is happening every
day.
The Mid-Mo Amateur Radio Club CW Classes are still going strong.
Kent Trimble, K9ZTV, reported that the classes will be continuing
for some time to come. Kent also announced that the 10M net on
Monday nights is continuing and all are welcome to join in. The
net is held on 28.100Mhz at 7pm local time. Any speeds are
welcome. The advanced CW class meets at Mel's Country Café at
6:45am on Saturday.
The Heart of America ARC voted to donate $50.00 to KCPT TV and
the American Cancer Society in Honor Randy Rathbun, NV0U. Craig
Schley, KA0FSP, presented a program on code breaking during the
two world wars. The HARC operated 2F in the 2012 Field Day
exercise and finished 15th in the U.S. in that category and in
Missouri EOC operations they came in second just behind the
Mulebarn Club, KM0HP from Jefferson City, MO. The HARC will be
holding their annual December Dinner on 12/18/2012 at the Corner
Café in Riverside, MO.
