JUNE 2015 MISSOURI SECTION NEWS
DALE BAGLEY, K0KY MO SM

ARRL Field Day 2015 will be held June 27th and 28th and is an
opportunity to practice the skills needed to provide
communication in case of an emergency or a disaster. If an
Amateur Radio operator wants to know the location of a Field Day
site in their area, they should check out the ARRL Field Day
Locator website. So far this year there are over 21 MO Section
clubs that have provided their locations using this site. A Club
or individuals can add their operating location to the Field Day
Locator on the ARRL Website. The link is
http://www.arrl.org/field-day-locator.

Those Field Day Operations that want to send a Field Day message
to the Section Manager Dale Bagley, K0KY and/or the Section
Emergency Coordinator Jeff Young, KB3HF, can go to the MO Traffic
net on 3.963 MHz at 5:45, the MON Net (CW) on 3.585 MHz at 6:30
p.m or the 9:45 MON Session and list your Field Day Traffic.
Usually traffic is taken off net the frequency with the help of a
volunteer assistant net control. Dale and Jeff will do their best
to take all of the Field Day messages possible. Sometimes
conditions make it difficult to hear everyone, so the Field Day
Operation can pass the traffic to a relay station operator who
can deliver it to the SM or SEC at a later time or via e-mail.
Winlink messages are acceptable for sending the SM or SEC Field
Day reports. Jeff Young's, KB3HF, winlink address is
kb3hf@winlink.org.

Kay Craigie, N3KN, ARRL President is encouraging Amateur Radio
operators to contact their Congress Rep. to get them to
co-sponsor H.R. 1301. H.R.1301 is a bill that would if enacted,
would direct the FCC to extend the the reasonable accomodation
protections to those amateurs who are living in deed-restricted
communities. Known as "CC&Rs" (covenants, conditions and
restrictions) these are the prohibitions and limitations placed
on properties by builders or home-owner associations (HOAs) which
prevent licensed Amateurs from erecting even modest antennas. In
Missouri Blaine Luetkemeyer 3rd District Representative and Sam
Graves, 6th District Representatives are co-sponsors. Amateurs
in those Congressional Districts need to send a thank you note to
their Representative. There are Six Missouri Congressional
District Representatives that are not yet signed on as a
co-sponsor. I'm sure that if you live in one of those
Congressional Districts you can encourage your Representative to
sign-on. The ideal way for members to contact their Congressmen
is to write personalized, signed paper letters based on the
sample letter on the ARRL web site at www.arrl.org/hr-1301 and
send them c/o ARRL.

   The address is:
ARRL / Attn HR 1301 grassroots campaign
   225 Main St
   Newington CT 06111

Let's try to be the first State to have all of our
Representatives as co-sponsors of H.R 1301.

AFFILIATED CLUB NEWS
KEITH HAYE, WE0G, ACC

The Nixa Amateur Radio Club newsletter the OPEN MIC reports that
this year they have secured the Missouri Highway Patrol White
Spartan mobile command center, which has a 70' pneumatic mast for
the club to utilize! They smell a killer 6-meter horizontal
installation! The bus will house the 6m station and 3 HF stations
this year, plus the AC will be on at full force! We plan on
having a couple of tri-band beams and a host of dipoles and
possibly even a 40m vertical. Setup begins at 7:30 a.m. and
operations begin at 12:00 p.m.. If you would like to be a part
of the planning, please come out to the Saturday, June 13th club
meeting at 6:00 p.m. at Nixa Fire Station at 711 N Main St.

In addition to excellent meetings and programs, the St. Charles
Amateur Radio Club, considers the time before the "official
meeting" each month to be quite valuable. Jim Miller, KGOKP has
been holding some "Ham 101" classes for anyone who is interested.
In April, the session centered on good techniques for soldering
coax connections. Jim tries to have a new topic each month. In
May, the focus will be on installing crimp-on coax connectors. If
you have a suggestion please let him know. The pre meeting is
also a great time for informal conversations. Bob Perrey, AD0GF,
and Rick Crockett, W0PC, are available to discuss a vexing
problem just before the general session.

This past month I had some nice reminders of the fantastic
Missouri QSO 2015 sponsored by the Boeing Employees Amateur Radio
Society. My Post Office Box was full of QSL cards with SASEs from
Amateur Radio Stations that I contacted from Macon County during
the MOQP. I'm sure that there were thousands of Amateurs around
the United States, and the World for that matter, that took
advantage of the golden opportunity to work some rare Missouri
Counties. I am very impressed by all the Missouri operators and
Radio Clubs that partnered with the BEARS by promoting the MOQP
and sponsoring category plaques. Even more importantly my hat's
off to all the Hams that got on the air and activated essentially
every county in Missouri. I'll have more to say about the MOQP
later this year. It would be a good idea to mark our calendars
with MOQP April 2nd and 3rd 2016, the dates of next year's event.
