I don't believe in global warming, not where I live anyway.

During 2007 & 2008 we had two years of dull, wet, cold weather wit, maybe
the odd day or two of bright sky (not sun).

2009 was the same until the third week in June when the WX suddenly
improved and we actually got some sun, so hot at times that I had to stop
wearing my thick, leather jacket and change to denim. The WX remained
pleasant, reaching 25 deg at times right through Sept Oct & November.

Then, in December, with a bang, the cold hit, sub zero at night and around
0 in the day, we have had two weeks of snow which I find rather annoying
as it means I have to use my stick and take great care when out shopping.
Counties don't seem to salt anything but major roads any more. Not in NW
England anyway. I still find the snow preferable to the usual rain which
we get at this time of year. I have no car and, even when I had, the 2" of
snow e got some years did not bother me too much as I had been raised in a
part of England where the snow where I lived reached 20' and the lanes
which didn't have snow were Anglo Saxon stream roads with up to 6" of hard
ice and made chains and ashes a necessity. Our driving was the kind of
driving some people do as a hobby in some areas - good training.

The heavy snow only lasted from around Xmas to the end of Jan so the rest
of the year which was warm and pleasant made up for it.

I contrast, normal weather for this area is rain, warm in 'Summer' cold in
Winter. I am much happier with this/last year's snow and ice than the fine
rain blowing into your face which is normal about now.

I have been to the BBC website and found that I can type in my post code
BB9 and get a very accurate 5 day forecast, better than the TV one. I am
hoping that this dry, cold WX lasts for a few weeks. I have had a couple
of falls, leaving me with a black bruise on my leg but nothing broken.

Here's hoping 20-10 will be a nice, sunny year, we are due one. For those
in Oz with the bush fires, my deepest sympathies. Perhaps, to you, it does
seem as though we have global warming but definitely not in the UK !
