Hi Everyone,
I've used turbo cad some, but my version is very old (ver 3). The old
version does not do electronic schematic drawing.
I've been looking for some software that would simple schematic
editing and printing/saving to files.
I called the turbocad people and the lady I spoke to was very very
nice. She didn't know a transistor from an IC however and really
couldn't answer my questions about the abilities of turbocad to draw
schematics. Perhaps I should have asked to talk to another rep who had
knowledge of schematic drawing capability and features, but I didn't.
I know that there is some support for turbocad on the website, but I
really need to chat with a turbocad user that does electronics and
schematic drawing/editing in turbocad.
Some simple questions.....
1-Is the software specifically made to draw schematics (self layout
and self completing lines if you tell it you want a connection between
pin 4 of U1 and pin 9 of U2)? Or, do I have to determine where I want
the particular line to run on the drawing and multiple click
(basically drawing the line myself)?
2-Is it really schematic drawing friendly or is it a mechanical
drawing program with a few electronic symbols on the cd rom?
3-Is there any real and practical reason for me to buy the latest
version (ver 8.2)? I see some version 7's on ebay, new in the box for
around 10 to 15 dollars...but they don't have hard copy book type
manuals with them.
Before answering question 3, consider that I rarely dabble in circuits
with more than 3 chips and 5 transistors and I want to print them and
archive them to digital files and be able to make revisions and edit
the diagrams. I don't need spice, pcb layout/design or any of that
really pricey stuff that comes with Orcad.
