Seems like a valid point.

I wonder how many users of auto bbs software like Winpack and others
that generate their own BID when forwarding are aware of this when
they have to reinstall their software after crashes etc ?

I have always been aware of my current BID and when ever I have to reinstall
I always adjust the BID to be correct rather than allowing it to start
at 0000001 again.

Winpack users need to edit winpack\mail\nextbid.txt - other software will
of course vary.

I've just checked and it appears this will be bulletin number 6525 which
means that this will be the 6525th message I've sent since I came
back to packet a few years ago.

If for whatever reason I have to reinstall in the next five minutes
I edit the aforementioned file to ensure I'm not re-using BID's
or my messages will get rejected.

I wonder if others are aware of this ?
