Hello , especially OM Bob from Australia.
Yes , it took humanity a while to appreciate the telephone.
It is a marvellous tool to call for help in need.
It took a while for humanity to find out that is is also a
devillish device to disturb anyone , anywhere at anytime.
Thats probably why FAX is so beloved. It gives a chance to
do - whatver at your leisure.
And today , anything - but anything will be used to make
money. Or to say, elicit moneys. Also we have the modern
phone, we do not have the right person manning it. Also we
do have E-Mail, there is not the incentive to call back and
make good use of it.Companies , and individuals have already
regocgnised that a lot of their time is "wasted" in mailing
back. Wasted? Isn't using it a form of advertising.?
All these Companies and individuals will find out
later-probably too late- that it had paid to answer, timely,
nicely and properly.
Telephone sales : Some of us find it a bit cruel for beeing
rude.
Think : The succesfull salespersons are the persistent ones,
the nasty, clinging to every bit and all, ones.They succeed.
The modern Telephone is probably the only place where (in)
direct human interaction can be observed at is best. And,
when you reflect and find out - its your money they want -
then you might think a bit more professional on their
employment terms.
It is commonplace to replace the Telephone operator with a
computerized device. Probably it had shown that the averge
citizen is intelligent enough to utelize this device with
bravour.
Unfortunately the computer did not keep up with human
requirements.
More unfortunately is that the top managers of these
devices/companies have not found out. Err , rather are not
incentived ( THE GOOD CHANCE OF BEEN FIRED!) that it pays to
replace Computers with people.
I would rather replace all top Managers with computers ,if
you ask me!
Our postal service slowed down , the Enquiry is a pain ,
payments are a repeated effort to stay alive, and live
generally becomes a druge Since Computers where introduced.
We in South Africa are battling as well with power oputages,
affecting these beasts, as well as with a high rate of : no
can no read, no write.
For me its no problem . We have so few friends or relatives
, and I was always of the meaning : When on the Loo , let
the phone ring to high heaven!
